When we ask students, what is their goals? Many cannot response back. When their is no goal, there is no thinking process, and with no thinking process, it will hard to take the first step. As an educational provider, we do not want that to our students. Hence, we usually help our students starting by questioning them. Who are you? What is your background? What your favorite thing to do? What your favorite animal? Where are you?
These simple questions can help students gather their thought, brainstorming materials that can be put together. It is also another way for us to communicate with students and get to know them better as well. Parents can do this to your child too. Asking them questions and asking them to elaborate further, which giving them the attention that they can tell their story instead of just answering yes or no.
Creating art is creating a story, there must be a who, what, where, why, when and how.

Tiffany does not know how to start or has a goal in mind. We suggest to draw about herself. We use her shadow as an outline of herself and draw in things that she likes or describe as who she is.
